Businessman arrested for fraud
December 11, 2015
St Catherine businessman, Vivian Williams, is to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, December 17, following his arrest and charge by personnel from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) last Tuesday.
The 37-year -old man, who is from Old Harbour Bay in the parish, is accused of failing to deliver goods on the contracted date. Allegations are that in 2011, Williams received US$16,000 (J$1,922,564.8) to purchase auto parts on a client's behalf.
The parts were not delivered by the agreed date, and when no refund was forthcoming, a report was made to the Fraud Squad of C-TOC.
Williams is currently on $200,000 bail.
